Meet The Children

Sujan Praja: His birthday is on 23rd April 2000. HHe came from the Monahari region in Nepal. He has three brothers, one of whom is also in another orphanage. He does not have a father. His mother was not able to provide them all with access to education and food. Hence, the orphanage.
He is studying in Sirius H.S. School at class 10 (Ten). He is very bright and he came 4th in class Seven. He is very interested on fine art like make statue by mud and make technical things. He has a very fast and technical mind. He wants to be an Aeronautical Engineer and his dream to work at NASA.
He is a typical boy, active and boisterous. He is very keen to learn. His favorite books are English dictionary, Mechanical Books. He is always keen to engage you with whatever he is doing. He is also a people reader. He watches for your reaction to the things he said and done. He would then respond accordingly. He seeks encouragement and approval from you in everything he does. Recently he made one Robot (wooden) and one small inverter (power backup) all by himself. Whenever he has free time he wants keep busy with electrical things.
Pangum Khamgim: was born on 13th August 2002. She came from Langtang area. It is a snowy mountainous region in Nepal. The village sits in an isolated spot area up in the mountain. There is no industry, hotel or shops. Therefore there is no work for the families who live there. Poverty is rife with people just living off the land. The school for the local children is several miles away. She has a father and mother with one sisters and a brother. Her parents had to make a very difficult decision to give her up to enable her to have a good education and better nutrition. One of her sisters is also in another orphanage. Orphanage has tried to get her sister to join Pangum here, at the same orphanage earlier in the year, but was met with opposition from the other side.
She is studying in Sirius H.S. School at class 9 (Nine). She is very bright and intelligent girl. She is very intelligent girl with strong and quick grasp of anything she learns.
She is a very loving and affectionate little girl who enjoys cuddling and playing make belief games. She is developing great skills at skipping rope, a game which all the children enjoy taking part .It was a joy to see them playing. She laughs all the time. She is a happy child, well settled into the life here.
Sarmila Mahat: was born on 18th December 2002. She came from Dhading, a very rural part of Nepal. She lives at the orphanage at the request of her mother, who is unable to care for her, she has no father. She has an older sister and a younger brother who live with the parents.
She is studying in Sirius H.S. School in class 9 (Nine). She wants to be social worker. Her aim is to help needed children when she grows up.
She is an independent girl with a lot of spirit. She is quite shy but she smiles readily. She is a dreamer.
She loves to sing and dance, quite often on her own but sometimes with other children as well. You can hear her singing in the mornings when she first wakes up, like a nightingale.
Sangmu Thuman: We think her birthday is on 29th October 2000. he appears a lot bigger and mature than girls of her age. She came from Rasuwa. It is a snowy mountain region in Nepal. We were made aware that her mother got married to another man, and her father also re-married. She was not wanted. She is an orphan.
She is studying in Sirius H.S. School in class 10 (Ten). She is very bright.
She likes to spend time playing quietly by herself. A thoughtful and mature girl for her age, quite an individual.
In her lighter moments, she enjoys dressing up. She uses long scarf to turn into a mini sari. She twirls in it as though she is on the catwalk. She is fast developing into a young lady. She is fastidious in how she applies the moisturizer onto her face, arms and feet before we went out to lunch one day, making sure she looks her best and smell her best.
Rajesh Thapa was born on 29th October 1998. He is here at the request of his mother. He has two older sisters who are living with the mother. His father passed away. They are living in a rented room with the 2 sisters. The rented room is used for cooking, living and sleeping by the whole family. Therefore the mother is unable to provide place for him.
He is studying in Holy Vision School at class 11 (Eleven).He has a dream to become a police.
Being one of the oldest in the orphanage, he is given the responsibility of laying the table ready for meals etc. He is always ready to help. He takes his role as the big brother very seriously. Each day when they are getting themselves ready for school, he will always be the one at the back making sure the younger ones are safe.

Rasmila Tamang was born on 25th March 1998. She came from Nuwakot (mountainous area). She was brought to this orphanage by her father. Her mother had passed away 2 years before she came to the orphanage. That time her father suffered from kidney failure which required regular dialysis. He had to travel great distances 2-3 times a week for that. After 6 month of brining her to us, her father also passed away. Now she does not have any living parent. She has two older sisters.
She is studying in Holy Visison School in class 11 (Eleven). When she started at the school, she could hardly speak a word of English. Understandably the class teacher was quite reluctant to admit her to the class. However, 5 months later, she improved so much that even the teacher was impressed. She wants to be a Doctor.
She is reserved but very affectionate once the barriers are down. She helps preparing meals for the younger ones. Apparently she makes excellent cups of tea. She can cook if she needs to. She is very tolerant of the younger siblings. Between her and Rajesh (the 2 oldest), they are role models for the younger ones.
Urmila Ghale: Her birthday is on 15th January 2000. She is at the orphanage on the request of her father. She has two sisters and one brother. She is a second child in the family. All of them are living in the village with her father. Her father is handicap. His right hand is not working. Her mother is abroad, working as a house worker. No contact from long time.
She is very fashion conscious. In her lighter moments, she enjoys to pamper herself.
She is studying in Sirius H.S. School in class 10 (Ten). She is very intelligent. Teachers are very happy with her. She got favorite student prize for 2014 year. She is very bright student. She wants to study a lot. She is 1st in her class. When she came to home she could not speak and write any English now she can talk in English. She is a class captain.
Pramila Tamang. Orphanage took her in 31st March 2011. She is a youngest one at Home. All children like her a lot. Her birth day is on 22nd January 2007. She is at the orphanage on the request of her father. She has one sister and one brother. No Mother. She is also youngest one in her family.
She is studying in Sirius H.S. School. She is in Class 5 (Five). She is a class captain. She is very bright student. She likes singing and dancing and she likes to play Uno.
